Dental Office Concept.
Location: Acworth, GA
Formerly serving as the Acworth Branch Library, this structure was evaluated and designed to be retrofitted as a new dental office. The existing building featured glass entry doors on three sides and a series of clerestory windows above the red-brick veneer. Overly symmetrical, ordered, and somewhat dark on the interior, the existing facility was in need of a modern touch to breath new life into this structure. The new design focused on creating a light-filled, hospitality feel for patients.
This was accomplished through the implementation of a few key features such as the new glass vestibule which floods the lobby and waiting room with natural light throughout the day. Large windows were added to each patient room, carefully integrated with the existing structural system, and new accent matierals of wood and grey metal were added to create warmth and variety to the architecture. The existing brick facade was repainted to lighten the overall appearance, and new landscaping lines outdoor walkways to put patients at ease as they enter the new office.
